History
Al-Van is a high-ranking Fury Knight, possessing high honors and nobility among the Fury. He learned all of his fighting skills from his master, former Fury Knight El-Selda Shun, the father of Touya Shun, holding great respect for his mentor. Before the events of Judgment began, Al-Van was sent to the Ashalley Kreutzer facility, along with Jua-Mu Dalby, another Fury Knight, in order to infiltrate the Earth's military infrastructure, for the eventual invasion of the Fury. He enlisted a former Second Lieutenant of the Space Alliance Army, Calvina Coulange, to help him out in the facility. During their time together, Al-Van and Calvina were engaged in a relationship. Unfortunately, his superiors' orders came first, and when the order to destroy the facility was given, Al-Van did not hesitate and immediately obliterated everything. Calvina would survive the onslaught, though Al-Van was not aware of this.
During the events of Judgment, Al-Van would occasionally confront the protagonist (either Touya or Calvina), accompanied with Jua-Mu. Even so, Al-Van found out that his own conscience often conflicted with the Fury's ideals. After several failed attempts to destroy his enemies, Al-Van was taken back to the Fury homeship, the
Gau-La Fury , and was demoted.During the final attack against Gu-Landon Goetz, Al-Van eventually realized that he could no longer follow his superiors. He would defect to the protagonist's force and co-operated in the final battle against Gu-Landon. Afterwards, to help the humans escape from the collapsing Gau-La Fury, Al-Van conducted a suicidal attack. In Touya's route, the attempt was successful and the humans escaped. In his dying breath, Al-Van asked El-Selda whether he could see those who would inherit the future with love and bravery: the humans. In Calvina's route, however, she insisted that Al-Van not give up his life, and prevented the suicide attempt. Their efforts also saved their allies and escaped the Gau-La Fury. Al-Van ended up staying with Calvina once more, reconciling with their past sins.
Notes
It is actually possible for Al-Van to survive on Touya's route. The requirements for this involves Touya not ending up with any of the three female sub-pilots:
Katia Grineal ,Festenia Muse andMelua Melna Meia .Trivia
*Fans have noted that Al-Van shares several similarities with fellow Banpresto Original character,
Sanger Zonvolt . While Sanger's personality reflects that of an ancient Japanesesamurai , Al-Van's personality resembles amedieval , Europeanknight . Furthermore, Al-Van's preferred finisher for his Laftkranz, the Orgone Sword Final, resembles Sanger's Colossal Blade attacks in many ways.
