State Route 158 is a five-mile long route in northern Mobile County in the southwestern corner of the state. The western terminus of the route is at its junction with U.S. Highway 45 at Prichard. The eastern terminus of the route is at its junction with U.S. Highway 43 at Saraland.

Route description

State Route 158 serves as a connector route between Interstate 65 and US-45 to the west and US-43 to the east. It is aligned along a two-lane roadway as it passes leads towards the campus of the University of Mobile. The route widens to five lanes as it junctions State Route 213 near its interchange with Interstate 65. East of the interstate highway, the route narrows to two lanes as it continues to its junction with US-43.

Future

There are plans in place to widen the segment of State Route 158 west of Interstate 65. Included in these plans is the construction of an interchange at the route’s junction with US-45. The improvements along the route are part of the plans to widen U.S. Highway 98 west of Mobile to the Alabama-Mississippi state line. [http://www.southeastroads.com/mobile.html]
