Tiruvekkaa

The temple is near Varadharaja Perumal Temple in Vishnu Kanchi. It is one of the 108 Divya desam. The Lord here is called 'Yathothkari' or 'Sonna Vannnam Seidha Perumal' (the Lord who had acted on what he had said).

The temple

The temple has two prakarams and has five tired rajagopuram. There are different sannidhis. Pilla Logachariyar sannidhi is also present. The Lord here is in reclining posture from right to left.

Legend

Lord Brahma was doing Yagam at this place when River Vegavati (Saraswati) flowed heavily to destroy the Yagna. This was planned by Asuras. But Lord Vishnu laid down here as a dam and saved the Yagna.

It is said that Poigai Alvar had born in this Temple tank.

Another legend is that, Thirumalisai Alvar turned an old lady devotee to a beautiful young lady in order to serve the lord for more years. The king married the young lady and made her queen. When he found the secret, he asked Alvar to transform him as a young man. But alvar refused to do. Then, the king banished alvar and his disciple kanikannan. When alvar left the place, even the Lord went after him. The land became drought. The king realised his mistake and asked alvar to return to his country. When Lord came back, he changed his position of reclining posture. The Lord here is called 'Sonna Vannam Seitha Perumal' because when alvar waved goodbye to Lord after the banishment, the Lord also went after the devotee following his words.
