Ashtabujakaram

The temple is called 'Ashtabujankaram' because the Lord Adhikesava Perumal has eight hands loaded with weapons. It is in Vishnu Kanchi.

The temple

The temple is a small temple with a tank in front. It has three tier Gopuram. It has shrines like BhuVarahar, Hanuman, Alwars, Andal, Chakra and Sarabeshwar.

Legend

The Legend says that Lord Adhikesava Perumal killed the snake which came to disrupt the yaga done by Lord Brahma.Here, Lord Shiva also guards the temple as Sarabeshwarar. The Lord here is in standing posture with eight hands having Chakra, Knift, Pushpa, Arrow on the right hand and Shanku, Bow, Gada and Kadga in left hand inorder to save the yagna.The Legend also tells that Lord had answered to the prayers of Gajendra from here.
Peyalvar was given the vision of Gajendra Varadar at this temple.

Lord here is ready to save the devotees at any point of time like Gajendra Moksha.

Prasadam

Puliyodharai(Tamarind Rice), Dhadhyonam(Curd Rice), Pongal, Chakkarai Pongal, Vada, Adhirasam, Murukku are offered to Lord as Prasadam.

Darshan, Sevas and Festivals

Brahmotsavam will be celebrated on Chittrai and Gajendra Moksham will be celebrated on Aadi.

Thirumangai Alvar , Peyalvar have composed beautiful Paasurams on Lord Adhikesava Perumal and his consort Alarmelmangai. It is one of the compositions in Naalayira Divya Prabandha.

There are many lodges at Kanchipuram and also bus facility available from Kanchipuram. It is 2 km from Varadharaja Perumal Temple and very close to Yathothkari temple.
