Kieran Harte (born November 6 1985 in County Donegal, Republic of Ireland) is an Irish footballer who is unattached. Harte is a composed centre-midfielder and a highly regarded young footballer.

Career

Harte began his senior career at UCD on a football scholarship at the university he was attending as a student [ [http://www.ucd.ie/sport/scholarships_newsnov042.htm Sports Scholarships] → www.ucd.ie/sport] and became a regular member of the Student's Under-21 and collegiate teams. Harte was part of UCD's successful Dr. Tony O'Neill Under-21 league winning squad of 2005 [ [http://www.ucd.ie/sport/news_u21sfinal.htm UCD retain Dr Tony O’Neill trophy] → www.ucd.ie/sport] but first team opportunities were difficult to obtain for the midfielder. In the search for first team football, Harte signed for First Division club Shelbourne on February 27 2007 [ [http://www.shelbournefc.com/news.php?id=583 Official Squad for 2007] → www.shelbournefc.com] , initially on loan to the Tolka Park club who were in dire need for players after their relegation to the First Division.

Harte made his Shelbourne debut on March 9 2007 in a league fixture against Kildare County at Tolka Park, which ended in a 2-2 draw [ [http://www.rte.ie/sport/2007/0309/shels.html Shels salvage draw against Kildare] → www.rte.ie] . Kieran scored his first Shelbourne goal in a 3-2 away defeat to Limerick 37 at Jackman Park on June 29 2007 [ [http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2007/0629/limerickvshels.html Limerick 37 3-2 Shelbourne] → www.rte.ie] . Harte was regular in the Shelbourne during the 2007 season where he made a total of 26 league and cup appearances. As the 2007 season progressed regular first team football became increasingly difficult to obtain for Harte after a mid season influx of signings into the Tolka Park club. Harte was released at the end of the 2007 season by Shelbourne [ [http://www.shelbournefc.com/news.php?id=792 Player Update] → www.shelbournefc.com] . He made 26 league and cup appearances and scored one goal during the 2007 Season for Shelbourne. Harte did not return to UCD and signed for Kildare County for the 2008 season [ [http://www.kildarecountyfc.com/news/news-details.asp?NewsID=1004 John adds Harte to squad] → www.kildarecountyfc.com] . Harte struggled to break into County's starting eleven due to persistent injuries restricting the midfielder to 8 appearances before Harte and Kildare County mutually agreed to part ways on July 14 2008 [ [http://www.kildarecountyfc.com/news/news-details.asp?NewsID=1051 Heavy traffic around Station Road] → www.kildarecountyfc.com] .

A further achievement for Harte's career was captaining the Irish University Football squad at the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand during August 2007.
