Camp Kiowa is a summer camp for children ages 7-16 that operates out of two facilities in the DFW area. Kiowa U runs out of the 270 acre TWU campus in Denton (35 miles from Dallas) and Adventure Kiowa is located at Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna (45 miles Northeast of Dallas).

History

Kiowa was founded in 2004 by a couple of friends who sought to create a camp for children and teens in the Denton County area that was different than conventional summer camps. It's a summer enrichment camp that provides campers the opportunity to learn unique activities such as cooking, lego robotics, woodworking, video editing, as well as more traditional camp activities like, basketball, baseball, football, golf, and tennis. The camp was sold to Brian Manhart in 2006 who, due to its growing popularity, opened Adventure Kiowa in Anna, TX in the summer of 2008.

Activities

What sets Kiowa apart from other summer camps is the learning experience the campers receive from the enrichment activities. They are all taught by local professionals. Cooking is taught by a local chef, video editing by the owner of a local production company, and digital art by professors from TWU. Other enrichment activities include woodworking, science and rocketry, lego robotics, golf, web design, fashion design, art and sculpture, and drama.
