Influences and artistic orientation

Citing the influence of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Neil Young, and Billy Bragg, Christensen writes and records alternative-folk songs with a focus on lyrics. He is known for his powerful live performances. Based in Boston's neighboring city of Somerville, he is a rising star in Boston singer/songwriter cliques, appearing with notables Hugh McGowan, Steve Mayone and Neal Cadogan.

Biography

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1968. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst at the same time Elliott Smith was attending nearby Hampshire college. While working a series of menial jobs, he learned how to play guitar and soon began writing his first songs. Several years later, he released his first CD, Road to Be Free. A second CD, Bull Rush was released in December 2005.

Band Members and Collaborators

Christensen's current band's foundation is the rhythm section of Neal Cadogan on drums and John "Life of the Party" McCarty. Several guitarists have played lead in the band, including regular contributors Steve Mayone and Jamie O'Connell, as well as Bob Damiano, Hugh MacGowan and Jeremy Parker (a.k.a Jack Plug formerly of Done Lying Down). A collaboratin with Parker on Christensen's first album, Road to Be Free, yielded the electro-folk song Please Be Gentle.
