Jon B. Erpenbach (born January 28, 1961) is an American politician.

Erpenbach, who is a member of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, has been serving since 1998 as as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate. He represents the state's twenty-seventh senate district.

Erpenbach was born in Middleton, Wisconsin and graduated from Middleton High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from 1979 to 1981, though he did not graduate. Before being elected to public office, he worked as a radio personality in Madison.

Political career

* Erpenbach was first elected to the state senate in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 and 2006. He served as the Democratic Minority Leader from 2003 to 2005. [ [http://www.legis.state.wi.us/senate/sen27/sen27.html Erpenbach's State Senate biography] ]
* Erpenbach was the author of Wisconsin's No Call List legislation that was passed and signed into law in 2001. The legislation was a forerunner of the federal government's Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003.
* He was also the author of a controversial proposal that was a counterreaction to Wisconsin's passage of an amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriages. Erpenbach's proposal, which was not reviewed by the Senate, would have tried to repeal part of the restrictions of the ban. The idea was based on Wisconsin's prior law banning discrimination against gays and lesbians, passed in 1982 and signed by the late Gov. Lee Dreyfus.
