Biography

Crafter is a member in the Australian Metalcore scene and lives a straight edge lifestyle.[1][2] He also has his own clothing label named "Mistake Clothing". Crafter made a brief appearance on the eighth season of Big Brother Australia after being voted in by the public through an online voting process via the Big Brother website. He was evicted by a fellow housemate after three days. But his eviction was planned due to the I Killed The Prom Queen's "Say Goodbye Tour".[3] He also appeared in the 2009 documentary Parkway Drive: The DVD, providing commentary on the band's career. In addition to this, during the live set he performs a stage dive during the closing breakdown to "Boneyards", the sets opening track. Crafter also currently managers western Sydney band Thy Art Is Murder and is also a fully qualified make-up artist, having done work on Australian films "The Proposition" and "Australia".

Music career

Confession

Crafter is currently the vocalist for the band, Confession, whose members are from Melbourne, Victoria, Adelaide and Byron Bay, New South Wales Australia. Confession was formed by Crafter in 2008.

In 2008, Confession released an EP on Resist Records entitled Can't Live, Can't Breathe and in 2009 released the album "Cancer", which earned the Australian Album of the Year Award. The album's lyrical contents have often been contributed to Crafter's ongoing battle with obstructive sleep apnea and down syndrome, exploring themes of disconnection, discontent and inability to function in a productive manner. The band has also completed several tours around Australia.

The band parted ways with their bassist and drummer in 2009. Shane O'Brien of local Melbourne band, Jack The Stripper took over on drums. After Dan moved onto bass in the band so that he could also do clean singing, Tyrone Burke of Melbourne Technical Death Metal band Hiroshima Will Burn, took over guitar duties, but was kicked out of the band in 2010 for not playing enough breakdowns.

Kevin Cameron, previously a member of I Killed The Prom Queen replaced Tyrone, temporary. After Kevin Cameron's short stint with Confession, Dan Brown went back to playing guitar in the band and made way for Jamie Hope of The Red Shore to fill in on bass for the "Keeping it Bogan" tour before Byron Carney of 50 Lions was announced as the new bass player. However Byron's stay with Confession was short lived and Dan went back to bass for a while and Confession played as a 4 piece until they recruited former bassist of The Red Shore Tim Anderson.

The band uploaded a debut song from the Album named "Thats Not The Goose" featuring JJ Peters, then weeks later released a second track titled "She's Not What She Seems". The band then released the album "Cancer" and had toured around Australia, UK & Europe. Their sophomore album has now been recorded in Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordström. They have played a new song at various shows entitled "Asthma Attack". Confession has announced that their sophomore album is titled "The Long Way Home" and is to be released 23 September via Resist Records. They will embark on the "Long Way Home Tour" with bands such as Thy Art Is Murder and Antagonist A.D to support the release of the album. The tour is to take place in Australia in October.

I Killed The Prom Queen

Crafter was the vocalist for I Killed The Prom Queen from 2000–2006, he then reformed with I Killed The Prom Queen after the breakup in 2008 to do, the apparent, last Australian tour. He has featured on all of the band's discography. Also, on the Australian Tour edition of the album titled 'Music For the Recently Deceased', Crafter had recorded vocals for the songs 'Sharks In Your Mouth', 'Say Goodbye', '€666' and 'Like Nails To A Casket'.

Carpathian

Crafter joined Carpathian shortly after the release of their debut album, Nothing To Lose, in 2006. After seven months, Michael parted ways with them in February 2007. Despite popular belief, he never performed on any of their recordings in this time.[4]

Bury Your Dead

In early 2007, he was recruited as vocalist for Worcester, Massachusetts band, Bury Your Dead,[5] but decided to leave mid-tour in May 2007 due to homesickness and murdering a person in south carolina in a fight.[6][7]

Other activities

Crafter is well known in the hardcore scene, running an online blog, Broken Glass Online, which was popular for its forum and nudity, and was relaunched after Crafter got bored with Can't Stop Won't Stop, another forum. He also organised the hardcore festival Prepare To Burn[4]- also known as Crafterfest. After the success of prepare to burn, crafter was employed as a festival adviser for Ozzfest and Warped Tour.

He also is the manager for Thy Art Is Murder, Slipknot and Down.

Recently Crafter signed a book deal for the release of a future story on his life, with talks of this becoming a feature film.

There's a powerviolence/noise band located in Sydney named after 'Michael Crafter', which apparently he is quite butthurt about. He shouldn't worry though, the guitarist is an indie douchebag and the drummer is a more arrogant dick than Crafter himself.
