Munali High School is a secondary school located in Lusaka, Zambia.

Structure

The school is actually three schools, Munali Boys High School, Munali Girls High School and Munali School for the Deaf and Blind. The school's slogan is "Only the best is good enough for Munali." The school produced the entire 1964 independence Cabinet of the first Republican President, Dr Kenneth Kaunda, is himself a former “Munalian”. The current President Rupiah Banda is too a former “Munalian”.

Classes are called 12M, 12U, 12N and 12L. 12M is known as the Kim Jong Il Class, named after the first President of the Republic of Korea. The class received financial support from the Korean Embassy until recently when the financial aid was terminated. The University of Zambia receives many students from Munali School. The school was a secondary school until 2001 when it became a high school with two schools under the same motto. The two schools are Munali Boys and Munali Girls.

Munali Boys School

The boys school is headed by Mr. Chinkata and Mrs. Ndlovu. Mr Chinkata took over from Mr. Saka who was acting head for about three years.

The three pure science classes 12M, 12U and 12N, and the two technical classes are 12A and 12L originate from the word MUNALISEC.

The school has about 1600 students and about 50 teachers.[1]

Societies

The Munali Boys Debate Society is one of the oldest clubs. Another club is the Parliament Club.

Munali Girls School

The girls school is headed by Mrs Sumbwa and Mrs Chanda.

Funding

The schools are partly funded by sales of coffee.[2]
