Junto is an Australian rock band that formed in Sydney, Australia in 2002, best known as a strong live act.

History

Vocalist Kane Sarich and original drummer Matt Yovich, before forming Junto, had been playing in a band based in Perth - Three Second Memory. After both relocated in Sydney, with Colby on guitar, the three piece saw one of their first gigs supporting Cog during their 13 week residency at the Excelsior Hotel. Joseph Berry - widely known as Cog guitar tech on bass until Colby ventured back to Perth. Junto was formed, and Barney Smith arrived to fill out the bass, letting Joey step into his most comfy shoes holding guitar duties. The band went about putting their own dent in the Sydney live music scene. From 2003, through supports of such bands as The Butterfly Effect, Cog and Brace, successful headlining gigs, a residence at Sydney's Excelsior Hotel in September 2004, and support from Triple J's Robbie Buck-hosted Australian Music program Home and Hosed, Junto began to develop an image and reputation within the scene. In early 2005, the band released a self-titled EP, distributed by MGM. In October 2005, drummer Matt Yovich left the band, citing the usual "creative differences". He was replaced by ex-drummer Sydney band ECM, Hayden Chee.
