The VRC Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a Group 3 Australian thoroughbred horse race for horses aged 3 years old and over under open handicap conditions, over a distance of 2500m.

It is held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne.

1875 - 1876 held over 16 furlongs (approx. 3200m)
1877 - 1878 held over 18 furlongs (approx. 3600m)
1879 held over 16 furlongs
1880 held over 18 furlongs
1881 - 1884 held over 16 furlongs
1885 held over 20 furlongs (approx. 4000m)
1886 - 1887 held over 16 furlongs
1888 held over 24 furlongs (approx. 4800m)
1889 held over 18 furlongs
1890 - 1894 held over 16 furlongs
1895 - 1971 held over 12 furlongs (approx. 2400m)
1972 held over 2400m
1973 onwards held over 2500m.

1854 – 1978 was a Principal Race
1979 – 2004 was a Group 2
2005 onwards Group 3

1854 - 1872 the race was known as the ‘Queen’s Plate’
1873 - 1874 the race was known as the ‘Flemington Plate’
1875 - 1894 the race was known as the ‘Canterbury Plate’
1895 - 1968 the race was known as the ‘C.B. Fisher Plate’
1969 the race was known as the ‘Queen’s Cup’
1970 - 1973 the race was known as the ‘C.B. Fisher Plate’
1974 the race was known as the ‘Queen’s Cup’
1975 - 1978 the race was known as the ‘C.B. Fisher Plate’
1979 - 1984 the race was known as the ‘Queen Elizabeth Stakes’
1985 the race was known as the ‘Queen’s Cup’
1986 onwards the race has been called ‘Queen Elizabeth Stakes’
