ska song written and produced by American songwriter-producerDallas Austin —well-known for writing and producing hits for artists such as TLC andJanet Jackson —for singerKelis ' third studio album, "Tasty" (2003).The song was released as the album's second single in May 2004. It was released in most countries around the world. The U.S. label for Kelis, Arista, folded right after releasing the hit single "Milkshake", so Kelis' album "Tasty" remained stagnant and its promotion halted. However, the
Europe an label for the singer,Virgin Records , decided to shoot a video for the ska-tinged "Trick Me"—to be directed byLittle X . "Trick Me" became Kelis' biggest hit—right under "Milkshake"—in Europe. The single sold 947,000 copies in the
United Kingdom and 140,000 copies inAustralia (double platinum).Reverend and the Makers chose to cover this song when they guested onBBC Radio 1 'sLive Lounge on May 30, 2007.Track listings and formats
