Rich Cronin

Rich Cronin (born Richard Burton Cronin, on August 30, 1975) is a singer and songwriter best known as the lead singer and primary songwriter for the American pop group LFO.

Biography

Early life

Cronin was raised in Kingston, Massachusetts, attended Sacred Heart High School, and is of Swedish and Irish descent.

LFO

Cronin was part of the pop trio "LFO". He wrote the song "Summer Girls" in 1999, which hit No.3 on Billboard's Hot 100, and No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart for six weeks. The single also went Platinum in the US for sales of over 1,000,000 units.

After LFO

Since his days as the front man for LFO, Cronin has been busy writing for other artists and producing. Besides writing for and/or collaborating with O-Town, Aaron Carter, Jordan Knight, Brooke Hogan and countless other pop performers, most recently, Nicole Richie and The Jonas Brothers have recorded cover versions of songs previously written and performed by Rich.

In 2005, Rich was ready to launch his solo career when he was sidetracked by a diagnosis of acute myelogenous leukemia which returned him from Orlando to his native South Shore Boston hometown. After initial treatment and a year long remission, Cronin relapsed and underwent a stem cell transplant which saved his life.

In 2006, Rich Cronin teamed up with friend Doug Ray a/k/a "Toothpick", former emcee from the rap group Bad Ronald to form Loose Cannons and record Life Goes On, the debut album by the duo.

2007 brought Rich Cronin to the TV Screen as a cast member for the VH1 Reality Show also starring Chris Kirkpatrick of NSync, Jeff Timmons of 98 Degrees and Bryan Abrams of Color Me Badd. The four former pop stars came together in Orlando, Florida to once again hit the music scene. Recording with producer Brian Michael Cox, performing and pitching their new music to major record labels, VH1 chronicled their month long endeavor in 8 episodes which continue to air internationally.

After launching Orange Freeze Entertainment Corp [ [http://www.myspace.com/orangefreeze MySpace.com - Orange Freeze Music - BOSTON, Massachusetts - Indie ] ] , a multi-faceted corporation specializing in all areas of artist development, recording, production, publishing and distribution, Rich completed and released his first solo album Billion Dollar Sound in May 2008.

The Hope Foundation

Born out of Rich Cronin's own personal fight against acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), he organized the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation for Leukemia. The Foundation is dedicated to the care, compassion and life enrichment of individuals and families impacted by Leukemia. Their main mission is to promote awareness about simple ways that healthy individuals can save a life. Encouraging people to donate blood and to register with the National Marrow Donor Program NMDP as volunteer marrow or stem cell donors, the Hope Foundation hosts drives across the country.

In addition to the bone marrow drives, the Hope Speaks tour was established whereby Rich visits schools, hospitals and other community organizations giving speeches about his experience from pop stardum to cancer patient. "I don't want to be the poster boy for cancer," says Rich. "I am never going to win the Tour de France. But if I can get out there and show people that I am just this regular guy getting back to his regular life, then maybe that will inspire someone." Rich calls this, "The Good Fight."
