Sowmya (Sanskrit, "soft," "smooth") can be one of the following:

*a description of something as gentle. It has also been used as a name for Indian women.
*an acclaimed singer in classical Carnatic music.

S. Sowmya, an acclaimed Carnatic musician is a graduate in Chemistry. Holds II Rank and Gold medal in B.Sc Chemistry.
