Ruth Todd is an award winning Salt Lake City television news anchor. She most recently worked for ABC4 Television. Ruth joined the ABC4 newsteam in December 2001, but first appeared On-Air April 15 2002 as the station's lead female anchor. Her last newscast was Wednesday, February 28, 2007, after her 5-year contract expired.

Ruth began her broadcasting career at KBYU-TV while a student at Brigham Young University. After graduating she began as a reporter and newsbrief anchor at KUTV News in Salt Lake City. She has been a reporter and anchor in Phoenix, Arizona at KTVK and both the ABC and CBS stations in Washington, D.C.

From Channel 5 to Channel 4

Ruth joined KSL Television in 1992 as anchorwoman for Eyewitness News Saturday Morning. She then was assigned to co-anchor Eyewitness News at Noon with Steve Eagar. Ruth became a quick favorite to Utah viewers and two and a half years later, she joined Dick Nourse on the Top-Rated Eyewitness News at 10pm.

After 10 years, Ruth Todd and KSL parted ways after both could not come to terms on a new contract deal. She left channel 5 and joined KTVX channel 4 on December 13, 2001.

Ruth had joined News 4 Utah as co-anchor of "ABC 4 News" at 10pm. She was first paired with veteran Salt Lake news anchor Randall Carlisle. In 2004, Ruth was teamed with veteran anchor Terry Wood. From 1994-1996, Ruth, Randall and Terry were all late-night competitors on different stations (Ruth on Channel 5, Randall on Channel 4 and Terry on Channel 2).

The Future of Her Career

On Sunday February 25, 2007, the Deseret Morning News, a Salt Lake City newspaper, had reported that Ruth's five-year deal with KTVX would expire on February 28, 2007. It may become Ruth Todd's final On-Air appearance on Utah Airwaves [http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,660198619,00.html] and mark her last appearance on the air after 15 years as one of Utah's most visible and popular journalists [http://www.sltrib.com/search//ci_5320456] . She said station managers told her last year they wanted to offer her a new contract, but that negotiations stopped after parent company Clear Channel Communications announced plans in November to sell all its television stations [http://www.sltrib.com/search//ci_5320456] .
