Oman and the U.A.E. also share borders with each other.

November 2010 Spy network uncovering

The UAE was allegedly running a massive spy network in Oman which the Omani government managed to uncover in November-December 2010. The alleged agents for the UAE are said to have spied on the Omani government and military. Government sources in Oman have stated that a number of Omani nationals were arrested too. The spies may have been interested in the issue of the succession of Oman's Sultan Qaboos. There are also views that the spy network might be focused on unearthing true value and meaning of Oman-Iran relations. Oman has enjoyed a very cordial relationship with Iran, whilst Arab nations have taken a very hard and hostile stance against their Persian neighbor. UAE denied any links to the network.[1]

Relations between the two nations became very strained ever since then. Sultan of Oman did not personally attend the GCC summit in Abu Dhabi whilst other heads of state did as they usually do. Reconciliation process started due to extreme efforts by the Emir of Kuwait and relations between Oman and UAE have since stabilized.[2]
