Marlboro School of Discovery is a magnet school in Clio, South Carolina and is part of the Marlboro County School District. The Marlboro School of Discovery is a public school designed to provide an inclusive program of instruction for middle school students (grades 6-8) who choose to follow a rigorous program of studies in the creative arts. The four magnets are art, band, choral music, and dance. Approximately 150 students attend the school. Marlboro School of Discovery is a 2008 Palmetto Gold Award winner for closing the achievement gap. It also earned a 2010 Palmetto Gold Award for general performance on PASS and a Palmetto Silver Award for closing the achievement gap the same year. The school leads the district's middle schools in high test scores. The school mascot is a panther. The school was first open for the 2001-2002 school year. Students must audition for at least one of the four magnets in order to attend the school. Students that maintain a C average can belong to more than one magnet.

The physical address is 201 Jefferson Street, Clio, South Carolina 29525. The school is housed in two buildings. The oldest building is the Clio Elementary School building that was built in 1933. The second building is five years old and houses the science lab, multipurpose room, computer lab, band room, chorus room, and art room. In the older building you will find the media center, office, auditorium, and five classrooms for core subjects. [1]

On Great Schools web site (www.greatschools.net) parents have reviewed this school and given it an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars. It is among the few public middle schools in South Carolina to receive a distinguished Great Schools Rating of 9 out of 10. [2] Current principal is Jack Swann, Jr.
