Based in Tokyo, Parisian-born conceptual artist Cyril Duval works under the name Item Idem, blending art, fashion and design. Situated at the junction of conceptual art, marketing, branding and retail design, his peripatetic work includes collaborations and commissions by high-profile eclectic creative agents like AA Bronson, colette, Michel Gaubert, Nagi Noda or Tobias Wong and has been featured in publications such as 032c, Casa Brutus, FRAME, The New York Times, and WWD.

Item Idem won the 2007 Great Indoors Award[1] for his striking design of the Bernhard Willhelm Tokyo flagship boutique. A self-professed “conceptual stimulator”, Duval explores new methods of display through relocation and appropriation in works that are at once witty, cleverly codified and disarming.[2]
