Chhajra

The Chhajra are a Saraiki speaking Jat clan, found in the Punjab province of Pakistan.^[1] The Chhajra are distinct from the Shajra, another Saraiki speaking Jat clan.

History and origin

Mian Nadeem Akhtar Chhajra Manik wali(Multan), migrated to uk in 2001.

The Chhajra claim descent from the Bhati tribe of Jaisalmer. They came to Multan under Rao Kehar, a chieftain of Jaisalmer, and settled there. There are several individuals by the name of Kehar, who played an important role in Bhat history. One Kehar was a contemporary of the Caliph Walid, who is said to have extended the Bhati kingdom of Jaisalmer. Another, who ruled Jaisalmer in the 16th Century, conquered all the country up the Indus. It is not clear, which Kehar is being referred to by the Chhajras, but their Bhati descent is accepted by the neighbouring tribes.^[2] Historically in 1930s to 1990s Chhajra's of Bindah ishaq and Qadirpur chhajra Muzaffar garh were very famous because of their interest in saraiki literature. In 1908 Nawab Mian Ameer Muhammad Chhajra from Qadirpur Chhajra (grand father of Sardar Mian Altaf Chhajra)was big land lord of whole Punjab. In 2001 research Mian Amjad Ali Chhajra supporter of Pakistan Peoples Party, Sardar Mian Murtaza Chhajra(late)from Parco;Gujrat), Sardar Mian Shafquat Hussain Abid chhajra & Sardar Mian Ijaz chhajra From Bindah Ishaq And Mian Saleem Aktar Chhajra (ex.Nazim) is from Sharif Chhajra are well known persons of this clan in punjab particularly having great political and personal influence in there area .

Mian Irshad Rasool Chajra is well known figure in the entire Muzaffargarh district.In sindh province there are some major villages of CHHAJRA'S, DISTRICT KAMBER SHAHDOTKOT,KAMBER taluka KAMBER. Malik Jindwada(late) from Chhajara tribe contributed a lot in education sector in 60's and 70's.

In Multan Mian Amjad Ali Chhajra son of Sardar Mian Ramzan Chhajra from (Manik Wali)Jalalpur Multan is a cheaf of this clan in his city. Mian Ghulam Ali Chhajra(late)Rustom e Punjab a great wrestling champion was from Sharif chajra Muzaffar Garh. Malik Allah Ditta Chhajra from the city of Dera Ismail Khan(K.P) is very much famous in all Pakistan. They are found mainly along the Indus, in Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah and Multan districts.

In sindh provience there are some major villages, village CHHAJRA WHICH IS NOMENET BY (SARDAR AHMED KHAN CHHAJRO And MUHAMMAD IBRAHIM CHHAJRO)

In Layyah District, their main village is Chhajra.

In Muzaffargarh District, their main villages are, Sharif Chhajra, Kallarwali, Manik wali, Bindah ishaq,Qadir pur, Bet Chhajra, Nuran Chhajra, Muslim Chhajra, , qabul Chhajra Shumali, Qabul Chhajra Junubi and Bibipur Chhajra.

In Multan District, their main village is Jhok Chhajra,manik wali chhajra.
