List of Prince of Qin characters

The following is a list of characters from the action RPG Prince of Qin. There are a total of 16 playable characters from five classes and the player can only control up to five characters each time, including the irreplaceable default character Fusu. Fictional characters are featured in the game in addition to several historical characters, some of whom are mentioned only by name. Only those who make appearances in the game are listed here.

Playable characters

Paladin class

  • Fusu (扶蘇) - the protagonist of the game and crown prince of the Qin Dynasty. In actual history, he committed suicide after receiving the imperial order, but in the game, he defies the order and sets off the long quest for answers. His adventures lead him to the truth behind the death of his father, the First Emperor, and the events leading to the fall of the Qin Dynasty. He aids the rebel army led by Liu Bang to overthrow Qin and establish the Han Dynasty.
  • Han Xin (韓信) - a talented young man who is well-versed in swordsmanship and military strategy, but has no opportunity to show off his abilities. He meets Fusu by chance in Hengshan Prefecture and decides to follow Fusu to make some accomplishments.
  • Li You (李由) - the son of Li Si. He is a childhood friend of Fusu and differs largely from his father in character. He is placed in command of the army of Sanchuan Prefecture when the rebel forces close in. When he learns that his father has been framed and imprisoned by Zhao Gao, he decides to follow Fusu to take his revenge on Zhao.

Assassin class

  • Zhao Qian (趙茜) - the daughter of Zhao Ping, the best warrior who served under General Li Mu of the former Zhao state. She is well-trained in martial arts and the art of laying traps by her father. When the wounded Fusu arrives in Zhaocun Village, she offers him shelter and nurses him back to health, risking the danger of harbouring the most wanted man in the empire. When the village is razed to the ground by Qin soldiers, Fusu returns in the nick of time and saves her. She decides to follow Fusu on the road to justice.
  • Jing Wuji (荊無忌) - the daughter of the famous assassin Jing Ke. She was still an infant when her father failed and died in his assassination attempt on the King of Qin. After the fall of the Yan state, she was entrusted to Gao Jianli, a friend of her father, and they fled from Qin's persecution. She was later entrusted to Gai Nie, another friend of her father, and was tutored by him in martial arts. Subsequently, she met Xiao Qi and became his disciple, learning the art of laying traps from him. When Fusu is seeking a skillful craftsman, he meets Xiao Qi and Xiao allows Jing to follow him on his journey into the Tomb of The First Emperor.
  • Tian Yuelin (田玥琳) - the granddaughter of Tian Dan, prime minister of the former Qi state. After the fall of Qi, Tian, then an infant, was delivered from danger by Tian Dan's loyal servant Xue Ping and raised by him. Xue was tragically killed when Tian was only 10 years old due to the harsh laws of the Qin Dynasty. She met a swordsman afterwards and learnt several extraordinary skills from him. After the death of the hero, Tian Yuelin goes to Sanchuan Prefecture and offers her services as an assassin to a millionaire named Jin Hai. She meets Fusu and decides to follow him to pursue a new life.

Muscleman class

  • Kong Gang (孔剛) - a powerful warrior who could take on dozens of enemies at the same time. He was formerly a general serving in the army led by Fusu and Meng Tian and earned himself the nickname of "Iron Crazy" for defeating more than a 100 enemy Hun soldiers alone. Once, he broke military law and was sentenced to death. However, Fusu intervened and lightened his sentence, such that Kong was only demoted to the rank of a junior officer in Yangzhou. Once, he meets the fugitive Fusu in Yangzhou and abandons everything he has to follow Fusu to repay the latter's kindness for saving his life.
  • Modu (冒頓) - the eldest son of Touman, the Khan of the Huns. His father detested him and sent him as a hostage to the rival Yuezhi tribe. Subsequently, his father waged war on the Yuezhi, hoping that they would kill Modu. However, Modu has already sensed a plot to kill him and he feigns illness to put the guards watching him off guard. He manages to flee from the Yuezhi and reaches Yanmen Pass, where he met Fusu. Fusu agrees to help him become the new Khan of the Huns in return for 20 years of peace between the Huns and the Qin Empire.
  • Qing Bu (黥布) - an ex-convict who joins the rebel army led by Chen Sheng. During a battle against the Qin army, Chen was betrayed and killed by his chariot driver Zhuang Jia. Qing hears about it and pursues Zhuang all the way to Jiujiang, hoping to kill Zhuang and become famous. He meets Fusu, who decides to ally with him to take down Zhuang Jia.

Wizard class

  • Zhang Liang (張良) - a descendant of an aristocrat of the former Han state. He spends his fortune on seeking heroes all around the land to assassinate the First Emperor in revenge for the conquest of his homeland, but fails and becomes a fugitive. He becomes a learned scholar and military strategist after his encounter with the mythical "Yellow Rock Old Man". He offers his services to a bandit king who has ties with the royal family of Han on Yinghuiling Mountain and becomes his trusted advisor. He meets Fusu by chance and decides to follow Fusu to make some achievements.
  • Kunpu (昆蒲) - the sacrificial wizard of the Miao people in Hejiang Village. He is well-versed in the magical arts of the Miao and protects the village from the evils of black magic. Once, he loosens his guard and allows black magic practitioners to cause trouble in the village. Kunpu meets Fusu, who happens to be at the village by chance and decides to ally himself with Fusu to get rid of the black magic.
  • Fang Zhong (方仲) - the last head of the Mohist school. He led more than 200 students to defend a city in the Zhao state for a month against the attacks of Qin and held on for a month. The Qin army won the battle but suffered heavy casualties. The First Emperor ordered the arrest of Fang Zhong after the unification of China. Fang was betrayed by Zhao Ba, a fellow student, but he escapes to Xianyang where he meets Fusu and decides to ally himself with Fusu for the sake of preserving Mohism.
  • Liao Yi (廖異) - one of the followers of Lü Buwei, a former regent to the King of Qin. Lü Buwei recognised Liao Yi's talents and showered favours on him. After Lü Buwei was forced to commit suicide by the king, Liao Yi and several others held a secret funeral for Lü. The king heard about it and was furious, so he banished all of Lü Buwei's followers to the remote Shu territory. For the next two decades, Liao devoted himself to the study of wizardry and became an excellent wizard. He meets Fusu and decides to follow him to make some achievements.

Witch class

  • Yinzhu (茵珠) - a Miao princess. She learnt from a powerful witch doctor and became an excellent healer. She travels around the region to cure people of illnesses and won their respect. She marries Yanjiang, who reveals his true intentions as plotting to take her father's throne, but Yanjiang fails and is banished from the land. Yanjiang meets Fusu, who was searching for the Gold Toad Pearl, and attempts to trick Fusu into killing Yinzhu together with him. Fusu believes Yinzhu and kills Yanjiang. Yinzhu decides to follow Fusu.
  • Chunyu Qiu (淳于秋) - the daughter of Chunyu Yue, an official of the former Qi state. When Chunyu Yue was executed for illegally keeping banned books on the various schools of thought, Chunyu Qiu and her mother fled to the Miao territory. While in exile, Chunyu devoted herself to the study of Miao wizardry and became an excellent witch doctor. She returns to Handan and hides secret copies of the banned books in a secret chamber. Once, she meets Fusu and realises that he is the one who would take good care of the books. She entrusts the books to him and attempts suicide, but Fusu saves her life and she decides to follow him on his adventures.
  • Yao Tong (瑤彤) - the wife of Prince Ying Gao, a younger brother of Fusu. When Huhai ascended to the throne as the Second Emperor, he persecutes his own brothers and sisters at Zhao Gao's urging to secure his power. Ying Gao and his family flee from Xianyang but he is severely wounded by the pursuing soldiers. Luckily, they run into Fusu, who helps them drive away the pursuers. Ying Gao subsequently dies of his wounds. Yao Tong agrees to join Fusu to avenge her husband and sister.

Non-playable characters

Qin Empire

  • Huhai (胡亥) - the younger brother of Fusu. He ascends to the throne as the Second Emperor after the death of his father, although he is not the rightful heir according to the imperial edict left behind by his father. He is in fact a puppet ruler who is controlled by Zhao Gao and does not wield the actual power of the empire in his hands. Huhai trusts Zhao Gao and follows every piece of Zhao's advice obediently, including the massacre of his own brothers and sisters to eliminate rivals to the throne. Huhai's tyrannical rule causes further suffering and disaster to his people, which eventually leads to his own downfall. Huhai is murdered on Zhao Gao's orders as the rebel forces closed in on Xianyang. Before his death, he confesses the truth to Fusu.
  • Zhao Gao (趙高) - the chief eunuch who served the First Emperor. He is responsible for poisoning the emperor and subsequently murdering him at Shaqiu by strangulation. He collaborates with Li Si to falsify the edict to make Huhai the successor to the throne. He instigates Huhai into persecuting his own brothers and sisters in order to consolidate power. Huhai merely becomes a puppet ruler under his control. Zhao Gao is a master of sorcery and the principal villain in the game.
  • Li Si (李斯) - the Prime Minister of the Qin Empire who contributed heavily to its founding. He was highly regarded by the First Emperor for his policies and laws, that helped to shape the empire. Although he is not involved in the murder of the emperor, he certainly did betray the emperor's trust in him by collaborating with Zhao Gao to falsify the edict. After the Second Emperor ascended to the throne, Zhao Gao monopolised power and sees Li Si as a thorn in his flesh. Li Si is eventually executed in a torturous manner on false charges of treason.
  • Huan Feng (桓峰) - a childhood friend of Fusu and Li You. He comes from a family of generals who have served Qin for a long time. He tells Fusu that there is something suspicious about the First Emperor's death, prompting Fusu to investigate the tomb. He helps Fusu and Li You enter the prison in Xianyang to rescue Li Si later, only to betray and lure them into a trap. In fact, Huan Feng is already under Zhao Gao's control by magic, and is forced to do Zhao's evil bidding, so he turned against his friends. Fusu defeats and kills Huan Feng reluctantly, as death is the only way to free Huan from Zhao Gao's control.
  • Ying Gao (贏高) - the twelfth prince of Qin and husband of Yao Tong. He escapes from Xianyang with his wife and sister-in-law and they meet Fusu in Yongxian County. Fusu helps them drive away the pursuers and learns about Huhai's massacre of his own siblings from Ying Gao. Ying dies from his wounds later and is buried at Yongxian.

Huns

  • Touman (頭曼) - the Khan of the Huns, a barbaric tribe living north of the Great Wall. He is extremely cruel and brutal, taking pleasure in the killing of innocent women and children when his army raided the northern border. He does not even want to spare his own son Modu. He sends Modu as a hostage to the Yuezhi tribe and wages war on them, hoping that the Yuezhi would kill Modu for him. Touman is also a master of sorcery and one of the tough opponents the player faces in the game.
  • Prime Minister of the Huns (左賢王) - the third uncle of Modu. He has been secretly plotting to take over the position of Khan and waiting for the opportunity to do so. When he hears that Modu is planning to kill Touman and seize the position of Khan, he pretends to support Modu and hopes that both of them die in the struggle. Modu survives and returns to face his ambitious uncle, whom he eventually defeats and finally secures his position as Khan of the Huns.

Rebels

Liu Bang's forces

  • Liu Bang (劉邦) - an ex-government officer from Peixian County. Once, he released a group of prisoners he was escorting to Lishan Mountain and started a rebellion to overthrow the tyrannical Qin Empire. Fusu meets him by chance and decides to support him in the rebellion.
  • Xiao He (蕭何) - Liu Bang's advisor. He strikes up a friendship with Fusu and expresses his admiration for the latter's brilliance in military strategy.
  • Xiao Qi (蕭起) - Xiao He's brother. He is the skillful craftsman whom Fusu seeks. He lets his disciple Jing Wuji follow Fusu in place of him.
  • Peng Yue (彭越) - first seen in Sanchuan Prefecture outside the inn as a man without ambition. Fusu enlightens him after a conversation.
  • Lü Zhi (呂雉) - Liu Bang's wife. Fusu can find out Liu's whereabouts from her and he noted that she is an extraordinary woman.
  • Fan Kuai (樊噲) - first seen in Peixian County as a dog-meat seller. Fusu can find out Liu Bang's whereabouts from him.
  • Xiahou Ying (夏侯嬰) - first seen in the inn in Peixian County. Fusu can find out Liu Bang's whereabouts from him.
  • Yong Chi (雍齒) - one of Liu Bang's generals. He was put in charge of Fengxian County after Liu captured it from Qin forces, but he defected to the enemy. Fusu helps Liu Bang retake Fengxian County by infiltrating the city and assassinating Yong.

Chu forces

  • Xiang Yu (項羽) - a descendant of Xiang Yan, a famous general from the former Chu state. He is nicknamed "Hegemon-King" for his might and prowess in battle. He allies himself with Liu Bang to overthrow the Qin Empire and Fusu encounters him twice in Xuecheng and Julu. After his victory at Julu, he orders the 200,000 surrendered Qin soldiers to be buried alive to honour his late uncle. Fusu chides him for his cruelty and leaves. Xiang's followers ambush Fusu and attempt to kill him but Fusu defeats them and escapes to join Liu Bang.
  • Xiang Liang (項梁) - the uncle of Xiang Yu. He starts a rebellion together with his nephew to overthrow the Qin Empire, in the name of restoring the former Chu state. He is killed in the Battle of Dingtao by the Qin general Zhang Han.
  • Fan Zeng (范增) - Xiang Yu's advisor
  • King Huai II of Chu (楚懷王 羋心) - a descendant of the royal family of the former Chu state. He is first seen as a shepherd boy outside Xuecheng. Fusu helps him slay an ogre and brings him back to Xiang Liang to be crowned as king.

Others

  • Chen Sheng (陳勝) - one of the early rebel leaders. He is extremely arrogant and declares himself king after a few initial victories. He refuses to help his heavily-besieged ally Zhou Wen and is subsequently drawn into the internal conflicts with his allies. Chen Sheng's rebellion is eventually crushed by the Qin armies and he is killed by his chariot driver.
  • Wu Chen (武臣) - Chen Sheng's subordinate. Chen doubted Wu's loyalty later after Wu declared himself king as well and ordered Wu's family to be killed. Fusu saves Wu's family members and persuades Chen Sheng to congratulate Wu instead. When Fusu goes to see Wu Chen in Handan, Wu had him locked up but Fusu manages to escape.
  • Zhuang Jia (莊賈) - Chen Sheng's chariot driver. He killed his lord after Chen was defeated by Zhang Han's army. Zhuang flees to Jiujiang where he is killed by the combined efforts of Fusu and Qing Bu.
  • Zhou Wen (周文) - one of the early leaders of the rebellion. His army arrives on the outskirts of Xianyang and is on the verge of victory. However, his allies such as Chen Sheng refuse to send reinforcements to support him for fear that he might win all the glory for himself. Zhou meets Fusu and requests Fusu to help him deliver a letter to Chen asking for reinforcements. The reinforcements did not arrive at all and eventually Zhou Wen's army is defeated and all wiped out.

Notable historical figures

  • Xu Fu (徐福) - first seen in a house on Taishan Mountain. The First Emperor ordered Xu Fu to search for the elixir of immortality for him, but Xu left China and was never seen again, bringing with him 500 boys and girls as well as several precious items. In the game, Xu is said to have made a fortune from trading overseas and he returns to China in disguise as a rich merchant. Fusu recognises him and they reminisce their past friendship. In one ending of the game, Xu Fu invites Fusu to join him in his overseas trading business.
  • Lu Sheng (盧生) - one of the two men who caused the First Emperor to introduce the practice of burning of books and burying of scholars. They went into hiding after spreading slanderous rumours about the emperor, and the furious emperor ordered an investigation, causing several other scholars to be implicated and killed. Lu Sheng disguises himself as an old beggar and is first seen outside the tavern on Taishan Mountain. Fusu can find out Xu Fu's true identity and about Wu Xin's Zhanlu Sword from him.
  • Han Cheng (韓成) - the leader of a group of bandits on Yinghuiling Mountain. In the game, Fusu tries to negotiate with him on behalf of a rich merchant but the talks escalate into a fight, with Han's advisor Zhang Liang taking Fusu's side. Han admits defeat and spares the merchant.
  • Sima Xin (司馬欣) - Zhang Han's deputy general. Fusu saves him from Zhao Gao's assassins and leads him to see Xiang Yu to discuss Zhang's surrender.
  • Wu Rui (吳芮) - the future King of Hengshan. He is seen wandering in Changsha.
  • Zang Tu (臧荼) - the future King of Yan. He is seen wandering in Hengshan Prefecture.
  • Gong Ao (共敖) - the future King of Linjiang. He is first seen in Lixian County.
