River Johan

The River Johan is situated south west of country town Canowindra, NSW. It is approximatley 3km wide and 20km long and runs along the side of the road leading out of the town.

History

The River Johan was named after the annoted, infamous Sally Anne Johan Frankfurt, in 2001. Her maiden name could not be used to name the river as the word 'Frankfurt' was frowned upon in society those days. In memorium of the infamous Sally Anne Frankfurt a plaque was put up beside the bank ofthe river to commemorate her memory. She is still alive today.

Creatures found in River

The River is abundant in mountain cod and stripey jackson fish. A commision was passed by council in 2003 to prevent people from fishing the stripey jackson as it is an edangered species but the action was denied. They then became extinct in 2004 and rioters sued the council for not taking action.
