T. Tony Cai

T. Tony Cai

T. Tony Cai (Chinese: 蔡天文; aka Tianwen CAI), is an American statistician. He is the current Dorothy Silberberg Professor and Professor of Statistics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is the winner of 2008 COPSS Presidents' Award.

Career

Cai was born in Rui'an, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, People's Republic of China. In 1986, Cai graduated from the Departemnt of Mathematics, Hangzhou University (previous and current Zhejiang University) when he was only 18 years old [ [http://www.wzwmw.com/pages/18/200808/20-2001.html 瑞安学子蔡天文的求学成才路 - 温州文明网] ] . Cai has four brothers and one sister. His sister Tianxi Cai is also working on statistics, and is an associate professor of biostatistics at Harvard University [ [http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/faculty/tianxi-cai/ Tianxi Cai's homepage at Harvard] ] . His brother Tianwu Michael Cai, also majored in mathematics (PhD, Rochester) is a vice-president of Goldman Sachs.
