Early live performances

Barbra Streisand started her theatre career in Manhattan in 1957 at age 15 with the play "Teahouse of the August Moon", playing a Japanese child. From 1957 to 1966 Streisand's theatre career includes nine different plays. In the 1962 musical "I Can Get It for You Wholesale", as "Miss Marmelstein" she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

In the 1964 musical "Funny Girl" she played Fanny Brice, the famous Ziegfeld girl who had a romance with Nick Arnstein. Streisand received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical.

In 1970, she won the Special Tony Award Star of the Decade.

The 1990s

In December 1993 she started the "", which was her first tour since "An Evening With Barbra Streisand" in 1966. The tour grossed an average of $2 million per concert, with tickets costing from $50 to $300.

The 2000s

After the successful tour of 1994 Streisand promised another tour for 2000. That tour was called Timeless The Millennium Concert. She said that it would be her last tour and that possibly she "would retire" from the concert stage. She played Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) for the first time.

In 2006, she undertook the and included European cities, such as Paris, London, and Manchester. The tour was the second highest grossing tour of 2006 ($92 million).
