The Big Dam Film Festival is the brain child of Clinton Begley and Christopher Mackenzie both natives of Quincy and members of the Young Professionals Quincy board.
The festival is named after
Lock_and_dam #21 on theMississippi river which is a local icon and source of revenue for the city.The inaugural event occurred in February of 2006 and featured 23 films selected from over 80 total films that were submitted for selection. A short video introduction by
Ed Begley Jr kicked off the event.Since it's inception, each event has sold out well in advance and has been subject to rave reviews and praise.
