Lance Fung [http://www.e-flux.com/shows/view/3781] an independent curator, has created important exhibitions in this country and abroad: Crossing Parallels, at the SSamzie Space in Seoul, Korea; Going Home, at the Edward Hopper Historical Museum, Nyack, New York; Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark, at the Venice Architectural Biennale in 2002 [http://www.davidzwirner.com/resources/38407/GMC%20bio%202008.pdf] ; and The Snow Show Preview at UNESCO’s Palazzo Zorzi for the 2003 Venice Biennale.

One of his most exciting projects was The Snow Show exhibition [http://www.amazon.com/Snow-Show-Lance-Fung/dp/0500238197] , realized in 2004 in Lapland and in 2006 in Torino, Italy for The Cultural Olympiad of the XX Olympic Winter Games [http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/02/garden/02snow.html] . The Snow Show presented the collaborative works of over 30 internationally recognized artists and architects, including Tadao Ando, Daniel Buren, Norman Foster, Morphosis, Yoko Ono, and Kiki Smith.

In regards to his current curatorial project at Site Santa Fe [http://www.biennial.sitesantafe.org/2008/index.html] , Lucky Number Seven, Fung has said:

"The emphasis on site-specificity has been a core component of my curatorial practice over many years. It provides a direct means for the public to access an artist’s work, with the relations between artist, viewer and context made readily apparent. All of the works for Lucky Number Seven will be site-inspired commissions that will not exist beyond the exhibition. This emphasizes temporality and process, and provides the artists with the opportunity to push their practices into new directions. The advantage of an exhibition such as Lucky Number Seven is that it allows for experimentation and play, and is not dependent on the forces of the market. It proposes instead a field of possibilities, grounded in the unique environment and history of Santa Fe. The aesthetic experience of the exhibition is therefore very much a construction of the moment, involving audiences in an ever-unfolding process of discovery as they move between the works around the city."

Lucky Number Seven will be on view June 22, 2008 - January 4, 2009. 25 artists from 16 countries will be creating 18 projects for the exhibition. Lucky Number Seven is composed entirely of emerging artists; all of whom will be making new commissions that are site-specific and all works are temporary. Many of the materials expect to be recycled back into the local community of Santa Fe.
