Itang is a town in southwestern Ethiopia. Located on the Baro River in the Administrative Zone 1 of the Gambela Region, this town has a latitude and longitude of coord|08|12|N|34|16|E with an elevation of 480 meters above sea level.

Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this town has an estimated total population of 3,601 of whom 1,929 were males and 1,672 were females. [ [http://www.csa.gov.et/text_files/2005_national_statistics.htm CSA 2005 National Statistics] , Table B.4] The 1994 national census reported this town had a total population of 2,106 of whom 1,176 were males and 930 were females. It is the largest town in Itang woreda.

Itang's origins can be traced to a concession that Emperor Menelik II granted in May 1902 to to the British government of Sudan. A later study showed that a position further upstream from Itang would allow boats to operate for more of the year, so the concession was moved to Gambela. Itang was partially flooded by the Baro in mid-1998 and July-August 1999.
