Sir Floris Ansingh, CEO of [http://www.bmbresources.com BMB Resources] is an oil, gas and chemicals professional. He gleaned his extensive experience at both the upstream and downstream part of the energy and chemicals value chain in the commercial part of Royal Dutch Shell Group of companies, including several CEO roles, in a wide range of international assignments. He achieved several significant breakthroughs in access to hydrocarbon supply, most notably in Saudi Arabia, where he was able to end the long-standing monopoly of the state company.

Employment History

1995-2005

Since his recent retirement from Royal Dutch Shell, he has been acting as an independent consultant. Between 1995 until his retirement in 2005, Floris Ansingh was the President and Chief Executive of Shell Companies in Saudi Arabia, and a member of the Board of Saudi Petrochemical Company (Sadaf), Saudi Shell Refinery Company (Sasref), Saudi Arabian Markets and Shell Lubricants Company (Saslubco) and Peninsular Aviation Services Company (Pasco) and served as Vice Chairman and Director of South Rub al Khali Company (SRAK).

1991-1995

As Commercial Director of the Shell Companies in Turkey from 1991 until 1995, Sir Ansingh was a member of the Management Board, overseeing both upstream and downstream activities as well as a Member of the Board of a joint Shell and Mobil Refinery.

1989-1991

Between 1989 and 1991, Sir Ansingh was the CEO of the Shell Marketing Company in Egypt. Prior to this, from 1986 until 1989, he was Commercial Director of the Shell Companies in Argentina and a Member of the Management Board with the purpose of overseeing both the upstream and downstream activities. As CEO of Petra Trading Company, a joint venture between major Shell Operating Companies (UK, Netherlands, Germany, France), from 1983 until 1986 he was active in the trading of oil products with the primary focus of attaining market intelligence for Shell, based in Rotterdam. Between 1981 and 1983, Sir Ansingh was Chairman and CEO of Shell Uganda, a downstream Oil Company and a venture between Shell and the Government of Uganda. Sir Ansingh was Planning Manager of Shell Manufacturing Head Office, based in The Hague, Netherlands from 1979 until 1981.

1977-1979

From 1977 until 1979, he was Development Manager of Commercial Markets in Shell Verkoop Nederland, developing business opportunities in all areas of this sector. Prior to this, Sir Ansingh held various positions in Shell Brazil, with extensive exposure to the automotive and industrial sales activities in various locations of Brazil, with the last role being Retail Planning Manager.

Floris is a reserve Captain of the Royal Netherlands Navy, Marine Corps. Sir Floris Ansingh received his Knighthood in the Order of Orange-Nassau from Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands, for serving the national interests of the Netherlands in Saudi Arabia. He received several military citations and medals for his services to the Royal Dutch Navy, Marine Corps.
