Wim Soetaert

Wim Soetaert

Prof. dr. ir. Wim Soetaert leads the Laboratory of Industrial Microbiology and Biocatalysis (LIMAB) at the university of Ghent, Faculty of Bio-engineering. During his earlier career he worked as research director for Chamtor and the German sugarcompany Pfeifer & Langen. He is secretary of ESAB, the Section Applied Biocatalysis of the European Federation of Biotechnology. Wim Soetaert has been awarded the European Cereal Prize twice, both in 1993 and 1998. During his work at the Faculty of Bioengineering he has been the co-founder and supporter of Ghent Bio-Energy Valley.
