The airline was established and started operations in
1965 as Aerotaxi Casanare, but changed to the present title in1996 with the acquisition of larger aircraft. It is wholly owned by the Urdaneta family.The airline was forced to cease operating in September
2005 following the crash ofWest Caribbean Airways Flight 708 inVenezuela . After the crash, the Colombian Civil Aviation authority required that all airlines undergo a special inspection of its maintenance facilities and aircraft.
