Master's degree and Doctorate from theUniversity of Oxford . His doctorate (Classics ) was concerned with ghost stories, adultery tales and the construction of identity in the Latin novel theGolden Ass byApuleius .He now lives in
Oxford and continues to teachAncient Greek andLatin to undergraduates there, but he has left full-time Academic work to become a film critic.He prefers horror, 'arthouse', the avant garde and East Asian cinema, and any films that are macabre, 'challenging' or tawdry, but he has reviewed the gamut of genres, writing for
