History

The airline was established in July 2002 and started operations on 28 April 2003. It is owned by Translloyd (55%) and LAN Airlines (45%).

Destinations

LAN Ecuador operates the following services (at January 2007) [Flight International, 5-11 April 2005] :

*Domestic scheduled destinations: Lan Ecuador flies internationally from both Guayaquil and Quito, but does not offer domestic flying between these cities unless connecting from an international flight.
*International scheduled destinations: Buenos Aires, Lima, Madrid, Miami, New York, Santiago.

All flights are operated with Chilean-registered aircraft by LAN Airlines.

Fleet

Lan Ecuador does not have aircraft registered in its own name, but it uses Airbus A320-200 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft leased from Lan Airlines as required.

LAN's Airbus A320 fleet is undergoing an interior conversion that will include the elimination of a dedicated business class section and the introduction of leather seats in economy class. To cater to business class travelers, the middle seats in the forward economy class section will be closed off, resulting in a 2x2 seating configuration (according to the amount of business class travelers on a particular flight).

LAN's Boeing 767 fleet is undergoing a similar interior conversion that will include the elimination of first class, the introduction of lie-flat seats in a rebranded "Premium Business Class", and an updated in-flight entertainment system that includes larger private video monitors and a greater audio/visual selection.Fact|date=June 2007
