Rushford, Norfolk

Rushford is a small village in the English county of Norfolk.

Rushford is situated on the north bank of the River Little Ouse east of the town of Thetford and south of the main A1066 road. The river forms the boundary between Norfolk and Suffolk and, until 1897, Rushford was in both counties [ [http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/civreg/places/r.htm Genuki index] ] . Rushford Hall [ [http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/216254 Rushford Hall in geograph.com] ] is south of the river and thus in Suffolk.

Edmund Gonville, a founder of Gonville and Caius College was rector of Rushford from 1326 to 1342. [ [http://www.cai.cam.ac.uk/college/archive/exhib/anni/gonv.php Gonville at University of Cambridge] ]
