Emma Rhodes is a British artist who lives and works in Bedfordshire. She has exhibited widely in personal exhibitions and prestigious open exhibitions in London including the
Federation of British Artists (FBA)Hesketh Hubbard Art Society at theMall Galleries ; the Society of Women Artists, Westminster Hall;The Arts Club , Green Park;St Martin-in-the-Fields ,Trafalgar Square ; the Sheridan Russell Gallery, nr Baker Street; Gallery 47, Great Russell Street. She has also been involved in theBrighton Festival as an exhibiting artist with her grandmother, the British authorElvi Rhodes and her mother,Margaret Rhodes (artist) .Early life
Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, in 1972, Emma started her traditional education at the local state schools where she is said to have shown a deep interest in all aspects of art and a distinct talent for the subject. She was encourage at home by her parents, who provided materials and shared their own training and experience to help her progression. Her mother and father, Margaret and Tony Rhodes met whilst training at
Wimbledon College of Art ; Margaret specializing in fine art, while Tony studied sculpture.Influences
Anne Everette’s egg tempera painting tuition at the National Portrait Gallery inspired her to develop her skills in portraiture. Jenny Brookes, an accomplished miniaturist, encouraged Emma’s pencil work. Ken Howard (RA) influenced her exploration of light sources and architecture.
