"Stab 2" is a 1999 fictional horror film, directed by Fred Rifkin and written by Will Kennison. As explained in "Scream 3", Stab 2 was a sequel to the original "Stab". The film was considered to have mixed reviews and it was followed by one sequel: "Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro" (Never finished). Tori Spelling reprised her role as Sidney Prescott.

Production

After reading Gale Weathers' second book, "The Windsor College Murders", Jerry Rapp (writer to the first film) didn't find the book as enjoying as the first. He did not return for the sequel and was replaced by Will Kennison who was also writing Arlington Street. Since Rapp was not returning, Robert Rodriguez dropped from the project that John Milton of Sunrise Studios were producing. Tori Spelling, Joey Garfield, Roger Jackson, David Schwimmer, and Jennifer Jolie, who had just finished "Must See TV", would reprise their roles as Sidney Prescott, Randy Meeks, the Phone Voice, Dewey Riley, and Gale Weathers. Christine Hamilton was later cast as Casey Cooper, also known as Cici. Newcomers Lori Thomas and Michael Neithardt were cast as Hallie McDaniel and Derek Feldman, Sidney Prescott's friends. Sharon Batton and Henry Young were cast as Debbie Salt and Mickey Altieri.Gale Weathers also had a cameo, as she did for the first film.

Reviews

"Stab 2" was somewhat rushed into production too quickly because of "Stab"'s box-office success, breaking records worldwide and re-establishing John Milton and Buddy Shayne as two of the country most powerful directors, and thereby affected. The reviews were mixed with good, okay, and bad, although most of them were okay and bad. "Siskel and Ebert" both gave it bad reviews as did RottenApples.com with a 61%. "Besides the previous cast members, I would say the rest of the casting was horrible," said Gale Weathers of her own book which this movie was based upon.
