Afghanistan–Pakistan relations are the relations between
Afghanistan andPakistan two neighbouring countries ofSouth Asia . Their relationship has been affected by theAfghan Civil War as well as events after the September 11, 2001 attacks and the war against theTaliban . Eastern Afghanistan is a predominatelyPashto -speaking area like the adjacentNorth-West Frontier Province , (also known as Afghania) andFederally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.In June 2008 relations between the two countries worsened due to disagreements over fighting militants. Afghan PresidentHamid Karzai threatened to send troops over the border to fight militants. Asif Ali Zardari , pledging closer ties with Afghanistan described Karzai as "my brother" while the Afghan president described the two countries like conjoined twins.
