Israel Matz

Israel Matz (Hebrew:ישראל מץ) was born in Kalvarija, Lithuania in 1869 [Israel Matz, 1948:"My Home Town, Kalvarija (Lithuania)", "LITA Yizkor book, 1951", 1499-1512, translation by Gloria Berkenstat Freund available online [http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/lita/lit1499.html] ] , and died in New York in 1950.

Israel Matz is well known for founding the Ex-Lax company in 1906.

The Israel Matz Institute for Jewish Law at the Faculty of Law of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, is located on Mount Scopus, in one of the original buildings of the Hebrew University, built in 1925.
