The Mining Journal was founded in 1835 in London. Since 1963, it has been part of a publishing company, Mining Communications, which also produces "Mining Magazine", "World Mining Stocks", "Mining Environment Management", "Coal Equipment Buyer", "GeoDrilling International" and "World Tunnelling/Trenchless World" [ [http://www.mining-journal.com/About.aspx Mining Communications "Mining Journal Online" website.] ] [http://www.mining-journal.com/history.aspx Chronology of "The Mining Journal" from Mining Communications website.] ] .

In 1844, the "Mining Journal" successfully campaigned for the introduction of the first safety regulations for mines .
