Biography

Laura Minadeo was born on February 5, 1989 to James and Deborah Minadeo in Providence, Rhode Island. Her life was surrounded by music. As a young teen Laura got her first shot at singing "Amazing Grace" in her elementary school's choral concert. " From the moment she opened her mouth we knew that was it," said Deborah Minadeo. As time progressed Laura began to sing at school recitals and local talent competitions. It was not until early 2003 did she meet Geri Verdi, a local blues singer that jumped started her musical career. Geri trained Laura in rock, blues, and soul music and taught her guitar. Verdi began to take Laura to open mics and her own gigs to test her performance abilities. In 2004 Laura Minadeo began to write songs, and perform at many fundraisers across the East Coast.in 2005 the teen fought for a Aldrich junior High School in Warwick, Rhode Island not to cut the musical program and even got an essay published in the paper pleading for the community to see what damage could come of the proposal. In 2005 she was given the opportunity to tour in Italy with Pilgrim High School under the direction of Joanne Phillips ( a teacher and long support of Laura Minadeo). One of the major accomplishments of Laura's life occurred here being able to sing in the Vatican."It was both a spiritual and mind blowing experience." Gushed Laura after returning. Also while in Italy, she was given a solo to sing "Blackbird" by The Beatles as the chorus accompanied her. An american couple was also visiting Italy that month and happened to walk into the church where Laura was singing. Upon arriving back to the states Laura Minadeo found the couple had written an article for the "Christian Science Monitor" about her singing performance.

Finally - and this is when I was no longer able to hold back my tears - a young woman with eyes as solemn as those of the Madonna behind her sang a slow, wrenching version of the Beatles' "Blackbird."
