Dr. Jerilynn C. Prior is an American-born medical doctor, professor, and researcher specializing in feminist approaches to women's health, especially
ovulation ,progesterone , bone health andperimenopause . She founded theCentre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research (CeMCOR) in 2002 [http://cemcor.org/about/who.shtml] , is the current president of theSociety for Menstrual Cycle Research [http://menstruationresearch.org/about/board-committees/] , and is Professor of Endocrinology and Metabolism at theUniversity of British Columbia .Prior is the author of the research-based novel, "Estrogen's Storm Season: Stories of Perimenopause" [http://cemcor.org/tools/estrogens_storm_season.shtml] and co-author of "Transitions Through the Perimenopausal Years: Demystifying Your Journey" [http://www.amazon.com/dp/1412021529] . She has over 200 publications and holds 6 patents. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine Distinguished Medical Research Lecturer Award (2002). Estrogen's Storm Season was a finalist in the 2006 Independent Publishers Book Awards for Health.
Dr. Prior grew up in Alaska. She received a Bachelors of Arts in English Literature at Linfield College, Oregon (with honours) in 1965. She graduated from Boston University School of Medicine (with honours) in 1969. She began her training, in Internal Medicine and then in Endocrinology in Boston. Dr. Prior has previously worked as a physician in Boston, Mass., Poughkeepsie and Syracuse NY, Barrow and Fairbanks, Alaska.
