Sansevieria Films is an American independent motion picture production company that originated in Logan County, Ohio, USA. It was founded in April 2003, when production began for [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1071795/ Finding A Dream] . as the West Mansfield Motion Picture Company, due to its close proximity to West Mansfield, Ohio. However, this name has never been used on any of the productions. It was renamed Sansevieria Films in 2005, shortly before the release of Finding A Dream [ [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1071795/ Finding a Dream (2005) (V) ] ] .

In 2005, the majority of productions by Sansevieria Films shifted to Toledo, Ohio, where the Sansevieria Film Festival is now held. This is a film festival which does not charge any entry fees for filmmakers to enter.

Sansevieria Films does not maintain any studios. All films and videos are shot on location in a pre-existing facility. Secrets and Deceptions was filmed entirely on location at the University of Toledo.

Controversies

Sansevieria Films has been a subject of a number of controversies since its founding:

1. Some people have accused that the main character of the [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ4wMICrqu0 Messing With Humans] films, a sansevieria leaf with eyes and hands named [http://www.sansevieria.net/sitebuilder/images/doki3-236x268.jpgDoki Doki] , somewhat resembles a member of the Ku Klux Klan. Sansevieria Films maintains that this "resemblance" is purely coincidental and unintentional.

2. Founder [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2725788 Blake Hutchison] is openly agnostic and anti-spanking, both of which have been reflected in his films and videos, which has infuriated some viewers, especially in his home county, which is predominantly Christian and pro-spanking. It has been said that some local retailers in Logan County, Ohio where Sansevieria Films originated have refused to sell DVDs of his movies because of his strong anti-spanking views. 3. In May 2008, Sansevieria Films released a short video targeting the Westboro Baptist Church, accusing that the church may actually be Satanists in disguise. The two-minute video plays the WBC choir's song "Ashamed to be American" backwards, and claims that the words "Hail Satan" can be heard three times during the reverse playing of the song. It is widely believed that Sansevieria plans to release a feature-length documentary about hate groups, which will include the Westboro Baptist Church. Members of the notorious church have yet to announce whether they plan to picket the 2008 Sansevieria Film Festival.

4. It is also widely believed that Sansevieria Films is currently planning to release a film in 2010 which deals with a female protagonist who is an adult survivor of child abuse and incest. However, all parties reportedly involved with this project have refused to comment on it.

5. Sources close to [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2725788 Hutchison] have reported that he plans to take video of, and post on YouTube, himself burning a Peruvian flag in protest of actions against the United States by the Peruvian government, including but not limited to the imprisonment of Lori Berenson which he claims is under false pretenses, and for that government's shooting down of an airplane carrying an American family in 2003.

Film Festival

In addition to making movies, Sansevieria Films also sponsors the Sansevieria Film Festival, which has been in operation since 2005. The festival does not charge any entry fee but has promoted optional sponsorship since the 2007 festival. The 2005 film festival was held in East Liberty, Ohio and all festivals since 2006 have been held at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.
