Biography

Fernando de Higueras Díaz was one of more famous spanish architect. Born in Madrid in 1930 and graduated as architect in the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid in 1959. His work is worldwide recognized as an original and interesting union of constructivist, rationalist and organicist architecture.

Autor of music, painting and photography, artistic disciplines in which he has also been awarded, originality and creative power of Higueras represents, within the landscape architectural, one of the most unique conjunctions of rigour constructive adaptation to natural and physical environment and understanding of architecture from popular contemporary approaches. His spectacular and simple structural solutions, with their vaults have influenced other architects significantly. The richness of the work of Higueras represents the original union of architecture in constructivism, in the best tradition of constructive Wright could also be regarded as one of the precursors of informalism in architecture.

He died in Madrid on January 30, 2008, 77 years old.

One of the architects of the Spanish twentieth century more internationally recognized, among his most outstanding works projects and their project to include the Spanish Pavilion New York 1963, the awared multipurpose building for Montecarlo 1969, and residences La Macarrona in Somosaguas Madrid 1971-1976,Fierro House in Marbella 1971, as well as the building Castellana, at number 266 Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, or Sede del Instituto del Patrimonio Histórico Español. It is particularly novel in its style and its constructive materials"Estudio College", in Madrid, heir of the ILE. His work appears in MOMA in New York.

Winner of some of principal architectural competitions of XX century, as Montecarlo Polivalet Building (1969) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi(1980), Fernando Higueras was worlwide recognized as one of better architects of XX century.

The work of Fernando Higueras has been recognized worldwide, with a multitude of international awards and honours, being regarded as one of the leading masters of the best Spanish architects, as Santiago Calatrava, Rafael Moneo and others current famous architects.
