Jay Vasavada(જય વસાવડા or जय वसावडा) or popularly known as JV (October 6 1973) is one of the most popular young authors in Gujarati print media today.

His versatile columns covering various aspects of society and culture is running in Gujarat Samachar daily (number one in regional readership – approx. 7 million) since last 11 years.Single, cheerful and positive by nature, this man is with global outlook.He is often recognized for his huge personal collection of 9,000 books, 12,000 magazines, 6,000 cassettes/CD’s/DVD’s. He has seen over 5000 Hollywood and Bollywood films which aptly justifies his interest and creativity for the silver screen.

Family

His father , Mr.Lalitbhai Vasavada is a retired lecturer of Gujarati language, and mother Late. Jayshree(Jaya) Vasavada was metron at Adhyapan Mandir, Junagadh.His mother left the govt. job after his birth and become full time housewife and also teacher for him and may be that is one of the reason for him to be cut above, because he get different treatment in positive way than other kids of his era. Other interesting thing his father Mr.Lalitbhai is a Nagar Brahmin and mother Late.Jayshree Ardeshna was from Patel cast, they meet in Junagadh city and than happened an unusual Love Marriage (which was rare in those 1960/70 era).

Education

He has obtained complete primary education (for 7 years) through parents at home, than he enrolled in "Vidhya Mandir School ,Gondal" , for higher secondary 12th grade science stream exam he joined "Swaminarayan highway gurukul" and he failed in the exam over his expectation to get higher rank than comes the twist in his life , as he was not agree with results so, he changed the stream to commerce and finally come out with management degree , he end with double graduation in the field of commerce with specialization in Management. He is competent in English, Hindi and Gujarati communications.

Career

Academic and initial career

He was a full time lecturer of marketing subjects for 3 years in college affiliated with Saurashtra University. During this tenure, he also served as Principal-in-charge for some time. He is invited frequently as a resource person for orientation/refresher courses for lecturers/professors organized by Academic Staff College, Saurashtra University.

Writing career

He is completely dedicated to writing,training,public speaking,anchoring profession only as for the time being.As a special correspondent he has done exceptional research assignment and interviews.In his maiden publication venture, he brought a set of SMS on print for the first time in world. He has researched in depth reviews/ profiles of many movies/ celebrities.His more than 1100 articles cover a wide eclectic array of subjects like science, cinema, international politics, women empowerment, environment, culture, religion, art, youth trends, education, personality profiles, economy, philosophy, management, world literature and human relationship. Spectrometer- A series of 4 books, a compilation of these articles, have been published in 2001. Anavrut-A series of 15 more compilations is ready to be on the stalls by the end of 2008. He has also written daily column of general knowledge in Gujarati Mid Day of Mumbai.

Electronic media career

Jay’s prominent assignment includes anchoring and scripting of a daily Gujarati celebrity talk show Samvaad on popular channel ETV with more than 225 episodes. He is also going to present celebrity based reality show Priya Gujarati as anchor/writer/researcher on ETV in near future. He is also writer-anchor of cultural TV serial Aaswaad on Doordarshan aired to 128 countries. He is regularly delivering speeches on All India Radio. He had scripted and presented a Sunday show Cinema Sizzlers as celebrity RJ on radio channel BIG 92.7FM, in Gujarat. He has been an orator in over 700 public speeches, lectures at workshop of Gujarat government/Clubs/educational institutes, making him the most popular speaker in the region. He has largest online fan community for any Gujarati media celebrity on orkut.com.
