Gardiners Close ground is currently the home of Basildon United F.C. who play in the Essex Senior League.

History

Gardiners Close, was opened by then West Ham United players Geoff Hurst and Jimmy Greaves and the first match was played Basildon United played West Ham United in front of a crowd of 4,000 which is the highest ever recorded at the ground.

Future

The Gardiners Close site is wanted for redevelopment by Basildon Council so therefore sadly cannot be developed on by the Basildon Football club.

Facilities

Within the Grounds there is a bar, decent size car park, small training facilities, changing rooms, and Main stand with too covered standing area either side.

Attendances

In the 2007/2008 season the average attendance was 40, the highest attendance of the season coming against Bowers and Pitsea on Boxing Day with 71 attending the game.

Directions

From London take A12, then A127 towards Southend (from M25 junction 29). Take A176 to Basildon Town Centre, turn left at 2nd roundabout into Cranes Farm Road, after 2 miles turn left into Gardiners Lane, then 1st left into Gardiners Close.
