Archil Gelovani ( _ka. არჩილ გელოვანი; _ru. Арчил Викторович Геловани) (
November 14 1915 –August 19 1978 ) was a Soviet Georgian military commander,Chief Marshal of Engineering Troops (маршал инженерных войск; 1977). Gelovani joined theSoviet army in 1939. DuringWorld War II , he was responsible for fortifying and reconstructing theBlack Sea ports. He then served on various topmilitary engineering posts, including being a Deputy Minister of Defence for Construction and Billeting of Troops from 1974 until his death. An avenue in Georgia's capitalTbilisi has been named after Marshal Gelovani.References
