The 614th Commandment

The 614th Commandment

"The 614th commandment - Thou shalt not give Hitler a posthumous victory." This was formulated by philosopher Emil Fackenheim. Because Judaism recognizes 613 commandments, not just 10, the expression is equivalent to "the eleventh commandment" in Christian culture. Rabbi Fackenheim meant not giving up on Judaism, continuing Jewish life, maintaining Jewish traditions.
