San Miguel Beer Division (SMBD) is a division of San Miguel Corporation, the largest food and beverage company in Southeast Asia.Fact|date=June 2008 SMBD manufactures and distributes San Miguel Pale Pilsen, the leading beer in the Philippine and Hong Kong markets.Fact|date=June 2008

San Miguel also produces a wide range of beverage products that are market leaders in their respective product categories.

Overseas and local operations

J. Boag & Son, the Australian brewer, was previously owned by San Miguel but was sold to Lion Nathan in November 2007. In the Philippines, SMBD has a 90% market share in the beer market.Fact|date=June 2008 Its closest rival is Asia Brewery, with local brand Beer na Beer and licensed brands Colt 45 and Lone Star.

San Miguel is brewed in Hong Kong by the San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Ltd, where it has a 24% share as it is more affordable compared to European rivals.Fact|date=June 2008

San Miguel is also produced in Nepal through a licensing agreement. San Miguel Beer Division also brews Miller Genuine Draft and Löwenbräu beers under license.

On May 12, 2008, San Miguel Beer Inc. (stock symbol: SMB), was listed on the Philippine Stock Exhange (PSE). Its first issue of stocks began trading publicly.Fact|date=June 2008

* San Miguel Pale Pilsen is featured in the anime feature "Ghost in the Shell". The movie has scenes wherein Batou (one of the main characters) drinks a can of San Miguel Beer, which was recreated onscreen faithfully to its real life appearance.

*During the Japanese era, and Andres Soriano was in America with the exiled Commonwealth Government, San Miguel became the Balintawak Beer Brewery, funded and supported by the Japanese until the liberation. Andres Soriano ordered the beer to be consumed by the Americans and the Filipinos to the last drop rather than be labeled under the name San Miguel.Fact|date=July 2008

* Most Hong Kong bars stock local and imported varieties of San Miguel Pale Pilsen. Discerning drinkers know to specify "Philippines San Miguel" when ordering.

* San Miguel in Spain has the same origins as San Miguel in the Philippines.
