"Body on Me" is a song by rapper Nelly featuring Ashanti and singer/producer Akon. It was recorded for Ashanti's fourth album "The Declaration" and Nelly's fifth studio album "Brass Knuckles". The track is produced by Akon and Giorgio Tuinfort. It went to number one on Billboard's Hot Videoclip Tracks chart in its first week, becoming the first number one single from Nelly's album. The song was released as the first single from Ashanti's "The Declaration" album in the UK and the second from Nelly's "Brass Knuckles".

It was then given to Nelly to use.There are three different versions of "Body on Me". Nelly has two versions, and Ashanti has one. In Nelly's first version of the song, only Ashanti's first verse is used, and Nelly does the second and third verses. That version is 3:57. On the second version of the song, Nelly's first two verses are used, and a different third verse by Ashanti is used. This is the album version.

On Ashanti's version, it's the opposite. She has two verses and only Nelly's first verse is used, and she adds ad-libs. Her version is shorter, at 3:20. Akon sings the chorus on both versions. The version that is being released is the Nelly version. The radio edit cuts the song by about 25 seconds, making the song 3:33. Thanks to high digital downloads, "Body on Me" charted at number 78 in the United States and number 57 in Canada but dropped off both charts the following week, due to attention being focused on Nelly's single "Stepped on My J'z". After a week in the top 100, body on me fell of the iTunes top 100 chart but a couple of days after the release of its video, the song quickly climbed back into the top 100.

"Body on Me" has become the album's biggest radio single to date. It is rising rapidly on urban radio, where its peak position so far is number 38. It is in the top 100 on pop radio, making it a crossover hit. It has a peak position of number of 14 on rythmic radio and has sold 300,000 downloads digitally.

Nelly, Ashanti, and Akon will be performing "Body On Me" live on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show will air on Thursday, September 18th at 9AM

In the United Kingdom, Radio 1 added the song to its C-List on July 9, 2008. It was released as a download on July 28, 2008. On August 3 2008, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at #45. The following week the song moved up 22 places to #23 and then to #17.

Music video

A music video was shot in Las Vegas at the Red Rock Casino, Resort, & Spa. The video was directed by Benny Boom. Charts

"Body On Me," has remained on the bottom half of the Hot 100 for quite some time, but within the week after Brass Knuckles was released, and when Nelly performed the song along with Ashanti and Akon on The Ellen Degenres Show and Jay Leno's talk show the single reached number 42 on The Hot 100.
