Java Remote Desktop (jrdesktop) is a cross-platform open source software based on the Java Virtual Machine that enables remote viewing and control of a PC.

Jrdesktop can take screenshots, transfer mouse and keyboard events, transfer files, and compress data. It also includes some graphical options such as screen size and scale, color depth and JPEG compression. It uses a secure connection between the viewer and the server with SSL/TLS.
