Thor and Loki

Thor and Loki

Thor and Loki is a comic book, under the name of "Thor and Loki: In The Land of The Giants", based on the Norse Myths, created by Jeff Limke and illustrated by Ron Randall. It tells a brief adventure of Thor, the Thunder God, and Loki, the Trickster God, both brothers.

Plot summary

Thor and Loki are traveling away from Asgard, arguing about if strength is more beneficial than strategic thinking. They decide they need a place to stay, which is why they find a farmer's home. After the farmer's son injures his travelling goat, he attempts to murder the son with his magic lightning hammer. The father gives the god his son and daughter to avoid the murder. They travel to the Land of Giants to prove if strength is better than strategic thinking. Thor, Loki, and the farmer's son fail all the challenges given to them by the Giant God and go home, hopeless. The Giant God summons them back and tells of his cheats. Loki's challenge (eating fried chicken against another challenger, which was actually just a fire, taking advantage of burning the food), the boy's challenge (racing the challenger, which was just thoughts), and finally Thor's (which was drinking a giant mug of water, which was the ocean, too huge for anyone to drink, lifting a house cat, which was actually the MidgardSerpent, which was almost lifted by Thor, and the crone, which easily defeated him with a flick of her finger, only because she was time, which no one can defeat). Thor tries to defeat the God of Giants, but the god vanishes them from the Land. Loki states that thinking is more important than strength and they begin arguing again.

In relation to Norse myths

Almost all of the stories in this book are related to Norse myths. Thor's giant thunder staff was actually a mythical blade called Mjolnir, Loki was actually Thor's brother in stories, Lemmings, are actually small, short-tailed rodents that are also in minor Norse myths, Asgard was briefly mentioned in the book, which was the home of the mythical gods and goddesses, and the Midgard Serpent was mentioned as a serpent that travels around the entire globe.
